Auto Distributor Adva / Retar | |||||||||||||||||
In these South American countries, driving up and down Mountains, Deserts and the Coast takes next to no time. (From sea level up to 4,200 m.a.s.l. in just 4 to 4.5 hours). To save having to change manually the Advance / Retard thumb-wheel located on the distributor, why not have the system working automatically. The car distributor works automatically for adjusting itself to engine tick-over to fast running, buy a simple air suction drum, so for altitude variation it could operate just as simply, by fixing a sealed drum (like a Barometer) to the Distributor which would expand and contract according to the atmospheric pressure, hence doing practically the same job as the existing suction drum, except that the Altitude Drum would advance or retard the ignition spark according to altitude.
