hydrogen from lightning | |||||||||||||||||
I'm not sure weather this idea is completely rediculous for I have had limited research into this idea but I was researching alternative energy sources for cars and hydrogen obviously came up. The problem with this energy source is in order to get it from water you need to supply an electric current through it and electricity of course burns coal and other such environmentally hazardous fuels, hence making hydrogen not so environmentally "green". But I was thinking that if you stuck a giant lightning rod in the ground and connected it up to a water supply how much hydrongen & oxygen would it produce from 1 lightning bolt if any at all and how suitable would it be for the purpose of powering cars?

i thought of this too. But I don't think one strike would generate that much hydrogen, It would probably be more efficient to just get a whole bunch of solar panels or something.
Why a giant lightning rod? wouldn`t an ordinary one do? and have you thought about what happens when lightning is absorbed by the ocean,wouldn`t this ocean take the place of your water pool?.
cheers.
You mean instead ov useing coal and oil to make the electricity for hydrogen use lighting? hmmm... it dosen't lighting every day.
