There have often been times when I would have liked to say something to a driver of another vehicle. Sometimes, "thanks for letting me in", sometimes "please slow down", etc. Some online games on my computer provide me with a way to send canned messages to other players. I'd like to be able to send a vehicle canned messages as well. Sending these could be done verbally (with voice-recognition) and played to the other driver by a standard recording. This could also be used to send emergency messages to police, or fire services. Because you can't send original messages, you lessen the chance of road rage, and you allow for the impersonal sound of a recorded voice speaking the message. If voice recognition is impractical for sending, some other hands-free method could be used.

It seems like it wold be nice, and the technical problem is basically the same as establishing a local wireless network. It may also be difficult to direct your message to the car that you want it to go to. Finally, this device will be worthless unless it is also installed in the target car, so it would probably need to piggyback on some other service... perhaps a service like OnStar or some mapping service could integrate this into their system.
