The problem is I bring a sheet of paper into the car with directions printed on it or a shopping list and I put it on the passenger seat and it falls off on the far side or it gets lost in the pile of other things I store there (bookbag, purse, books, etc).

Why not put a clip of some kind on the dash so I could clip up the directions or the grocery list or whatever, not lose them during the drive.

You can get them at auto acessory stores, or something like it.

True, you can purchase them as accessories. Integrating them into the original car design would be hard (which lends itself to too many bells and whistles).
