Wouldn't it be great if Automakers would put a USB pot in car stereos so we could carry around our MP3's easier on a usb drive from the desktoptop to the car?

This is a really good idea. You also wouldn't have to worry at all about skipping when going over bumps.

I know of one manufacturer that makes a CD/MP3, AUX input, and USB port in-dash car stereo. It's called the "Megasound VRCD-300". Info can be found at "www.vr-3.com". However, I have yet to find a place that stocks or sells it.... but I haven't really been looking for one.

here's another one:

PYLE PLCDUSB78MP3 AM/FM-MPX CD/MPE3 Player w/ USB input

Available on e-bay...around $100.

could i use a external hard drive using the usb port on this pyle?

I suggested this in the Car audio jack post. It'd be great but it seems the auto industry is the last place to adopt inovative technology.

I don't think it's fair to ding the car makers for this. If the car-buying consumers want MP3-compatible car audio with line-in and USB input and all the other current bells and whistles, they'll be happy to install whatever the car audio makers are capable of supplying in sufficient quantity.

Crutchfield has a car stereo with a USB port in it. Go to Crutchfield.com to view.
