The Attorney General's "Do Not Call List" didn't work because telemarketers now use "surveys" to circumvent the definition of "telemarketing". Why not try starting a huge national resource for deliberately finding better jobs for telemarketers and put a final end to this terrible industry? "We the people" can then refer telemarketers to this resource every time we receive a call from one of them--even include this referral as a part of our answering machine screening system. Submitting a job position to the resource would be an act of patriotism on the part of employers.

YES! We do not even need a federal-level initiative - everyone can research local community colleges and othe existing resources and just prepare a pitch to the telemarketer letting her or him know about all the other alternatives!
I seriously doubt you can find jobs for telemarketers that are as highly paying, less invasive, and provide similar benefits. Most firms pay about 3 times minimum wage, require a fairly sedentary work schedule and provide full medical, dental, and 401 (k) packages. Additionally, many provide tuition reimbursement programs for them to pursue college degrees.
Additionally, how many of these callers are not American? Are you going to have a list of resources for Canadians, Indians, etc.?
If you can find jobs in various countries that provide similar or better work environment and pay, how do you keep track of it? Build an international database? Let users input their own? How soon would it become a spam-heaven for "GOOD JOB, WORK FROM HOME!!!!!!" type of posts.
I seriously have no idea why people freak out so much about telemarketers. It's just an annoying person. You just hang up the phone immediately. It's not hard. You just hang it up, and you're done. You go on with life. So does the telemarketer.
They definitely don't want your help to understand that college is available. They probably are students already. They probably don't really care what you think.
That they are annoying is exactly the point. We have the right to not be annoyed 4-10 times a day inside the privacy of our homes.
I think this is an excellent idea. Maybe http://www.Monster.com could be linked to in some way that pulls up jobs particularly interesting to the demographics of telemarketers.
Another website would just have a link with the complex search criteria encoded so that by selecting the state, city, and just pressing one button, the telemarketer would see all of the jobs in their city that they likely would be interested in. All paying more than the $8/hour that telemarketers get paid.
