Link similar ideas | |||||||||||||||||
Allow users to link ideas together if they are similar. Have a little button that says "I've seen this before" or "Similar ideas...". When the user clicks on it, they are presented with a drop down list that allows them to navigate to the category where the similar idea was posted, then the ideas are listed and they choose the one that is similar. Advanced features include a mechanism to undo the linkage, and a notice that goes to a moderator to confirm whether it really should be linked.

Often times one idea actually contains several original concepts related to a previous idea. The moderator should have a tool to scan for duplicate information. If each website only had a radio button that indicated the potential of having duplicate information, then the moderator could compare the two and determine what to do. The newer version might have that portion which was directly related hypertext linked to the older version and vice-versa.
