Fire proof Computer case | |||||||||||||||||
I would like to see a fire proof CPU case, it seems to me that if would be fairly simple for a company that makes safes like these: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=882234 and still stay around the $50 - $100 dollar price to modify this design to fit a standard computer case and add a couple external hookups for power, network cable etc.. If these already exist please send me the link.

Wouldn't the interior still suffer from heat/smoke? I think what you're really wanting is a hard drive that could survive a fire, not a computer case.
A fireproof harddrive enclosure would be nice the data is the most important anyway but I think that they could easily add a smoke defector/heat sensor fairly cheap that could close off the vents and still keep it in the $50-$100 price range. I would gladly pay it to protect a $2000-$3000 worth of computer hardware and all those irreplaceable family photos.
There is a fireproof computer product like this available on the market today. Keep in mind that the safes at the box stores are not rated to protect computer media. Thus in the event of a fire, your computer media would melt.
