Anti heartburn | |||||||||||||||||
Some adults can't enjoy spicy foods at all because of the severe heartburn that follows. What if a company made hot sauce, ect, that had antacid in it, that guarenteed it wouldn't give you heartburn? It might be an alternative on menues at restaraunts...

How about just giving out an antacid tablet with the meal? Mixing it with the food would probably destroy the taste of the food, and it wouldn't be possible to adjust the dose to what you need. Not everyone needs the same amount of antacid, and not every person needs the same amount every time.
I don't really want antacid.
There are different types of anti-acid. Some, like sodium bicarbonate, merely counter stomach acid and generate gas. Some, like the patent medicine Nexium, prevent the generation of extra acid. Both have problems but bicarbonate can be deleterious in the long run. The stomach needs to be acidic to digest food and sterilize incoming material but too much acid can overflow to unprotected areas such as the esophagus where the irritation can cause cancer. It is better that people who cannot control their acid stay away from foods that generate it as it can be dangerous in the long run.
