A device that can detect a broken water sprinkler head through irregular (increased) water flow to the broken head and either shut the head off or turn off the head's station. For those that don't have a water sprinkler system, if one sprinkler head is broken or loose within a station, the entire station's water pressure is devoted to the broken head, flooding the ground around the broken head and dehydrating the rest of the station's ground. A station is a group of sprinkler heads within a certain area of the lawn that work as a group to water that area of the lawn.

One possible (but only partial) solution would be to install a low pressure cut-off switch on the irrigation system’s main line. If a head were to be removed/broken or a break occurred in the irrigation water lines, the system would detect a drop in pressure and cutoff the water supply to the irrigation system. Most residentail systems require 40+ PSI, so a drop to 20 PSI could be a cut-off. This does require a well balanced system (i.e. all zones use about the same amout of water). Similar cut-offs are used on large systems where some of the lines are in excess of 4” to prevent damage to water pumps and property damage from flooding.
The best product out to prevent the pressure and water loss for broken sprinklers is vertical stop a new valve made by Save Water Solutions www.savewatersolutions.com.
That is the perfect solution. Thanks.djones@wandjlaw.com
