The Practical Beach Umbrella.Enjoy your summer days at the beach without worrying about your umbrella. Get your umbrella deep enough into the sand so it stays stable, does not blow away, and does not cartwheel down the beach. My idea is to manufacture umbrella poles with a heavy duty tip, similar to the end of a screw, that drill into the sand with ease. Such design will enable beach-goers to secure their umbrellas into the sand without having to use a shovel to dig deep enough or having to use heavy bags at the base to secure them. Not a beach umbrella stand or adaptor, but an actual pole where the tip is designed as a screw.

This idea is good, but it would be better to make a device that would attch to the old umbrellas as well as new ones. It's already created http://www.shadeusa.com/beach_umbrella_holders.htm

This comment is not directly related to your idea (which I like), but it does pertain to umbrellas. Why not attach a UV radiation meter to the umbrella? Clearly if you're under an umbrella, you're shielding yourself from the sun. With a clear reading on how "bright" the sun is, you'll know when it's safe to come out from under the umbrella.

A couple of years ago I got me such a device at K-Mart. New and old umbrella fit very nicely. So I even took it to Europe.
