Grocery caddy | |||||||||||||||||
Designed for urbanites who can't park right next to their kitchens, the grocery caddy would be a fully-collapsable cart with recessed hooks, allowing the easy transport of groceries. When folded, it would fit into an over-the-shoulder bag. It would also come with environmentally-friendly grocery bags so that one could avoid using the plastic ones. The bottom would be enclosed to carry non-hanging items, like beer and TP. It would also have a telescoping pole for dry-cleaning. The cart could be used by all shoppers (not just for groceries), as well as in-home chefs and the elderly (can use it as a walker while shopping). On a side note, instead of charging customers for the plastic bags (as is being proposed in some areas) why don't stores give a rebate to customers bringing their own reuseable bags?

Some stores do give rebates for reusable bags. Unfortunately, the rebate at my local store is only five cents per bag, so it's not worth the effort for a lot of people. Maybe increase the refund so more people use reusable bags?
Your grocery caddy gave me an idea... Why not combine the bottom of an ambulance stretcher with a shopping cart? Everyone could have their own, and it would save a lot of time loading/unloading the car. Just unfold the wheels, go shopping, then push it into the back of your car. Of course you'd need a station wagon or some other rear-door vehicle for this to work.
I've seen those for years. Used by little old ladies that walk to the market and back.
