An enormous number of thefts occur in which an item of value such as a laptop computer, brief case, golf clubs, etc. are left visibly in a car over night. These are crimes of opportunity that are completely preventable. Sometime we are just too lazy to make one more trip to the car to retrieve our belongings. This kind of theft hurts all of us since it drives up insurance rates, leads to identity theft, consumes valuable police time, etc. So one idea is to include a disclaimer in car insurance policies that any loose portable item stolen from inside a car overnight will not be covered by insurance. Perhaps if people knew that their items were not covered by insurance, it would provide that little bit of extra motivation to empty the car at night. Why should we be forced to pay higher rates to reimburse someone for a loss that is avoidable?

Anyone who has dealt with an insurance company to demand that they live up to their obligation to re-emburse a loss is well aware that they will use any cockamamie excuse to not live up to their contract. It seems to me an unfortunate concept to give them further grounds to deny their obligations.
insurance is inevitable.lawyers will finish the rest.only situation arise.

Seriously, iono.
what about a "space detector" in the car, which gives a signal if there is a large object in the car? It's not that simple to invent but I'm always thinking how can we force the circumstances for the lazy people, so that they have no choise but to return and bring their laptop at home.
So, like, what if I'm carrying a box of toilet paper in the back seat of my car? Your space detector gonna make me move it? Get real ! !
