Aside from creating a new fire hazard, I cannot see anything in favor of making smoking more convenient. But maybe I am irrationally prejudiced against smoking.

Oh, I get it, so you can $ue tobacco companies for even more million$ of dollar$ when you develop lung cancer and/or all the other self-inflicted diseases linked to smoking cigarettes...

Any government badly willing to reduce smoking consequences would be well inspired to promote the opposite invention! Tobacco companies would be forced to use almost only (close to) fireproof components. If one needs to light a flamethrower for 10 minutes before a cigarette starts up, that would begin to change things, woudn't it?

Put a bit more saltpetre (KNO3) in the tip of the cigarette,(cigarettes have saltpetre in them anyway to help them burn) add a very low ohms value, very small disposable resistor across the tip with two contact points on the end of the cigarette (the resistor and its electrical contacts will have to be made of something non toxic that burns away easily when its function of igniting the cigarette is completed). Implant a small battery in the cigarette box with two contact points to the battery on the surface of the box.Touch the two contact points on the cigarette to the two contact points on the box. The resistor will heat up , ignite the saltpetre tobacco mix and your ciggie will be lit.

I remember something like this from the early sixties where you took the cigarette out of the box and struck it on the side like a wooden match, it never caught on. I also remember that when you bought a pack of cigarettes from a machine, a book of matches would come out with your cigarettes!

If you take up smoking, you know exactly what you're getting into. Go buy a lighter, Puff.

I smoke but that is a fire waiting to happen--Your idea is about as bright as a burned out light bulb.
