TV remote finder | |||||||||||||||||
Necessity is the mother of all invention. I need a TV remote finder. You know, just like the page button on wireless phones. Press a button and the remote can be found by the beeping sound. Maybe somebody has already invented this, if so tell me where to buy one. I have a one year old boy who thinks the TV remote is the coolest thing in the house, and even though we try to hide it from him, he is good at finding it. Next thing you know its behind the couch with a tator-tot stuck to the side of it, and mold is growing on it.

...so apparently he hasn't recognized how much the shape of a remote resembles the profile of a nuclear submarine...?
What if you can't find the finder. Or is it a permanent fixture, like on a wall switch.
It would not have to be a permanent fixture. Only a little base, just like the phone base. And since it would not have to be moved to find the remote it could be placed on top of the TV and left there. Maybe velcro could hold it down down so that it wouldn't get bumped off onto the floor.
I think this is just going to further clutter your living room. Plus you'll have to change the batteries in it every once in awhile. And your son will get over his fascination with the remote at some point, so it's not going to be useful for very long. Maybe you could buy another remote to be a decoy and strategically hide the real one where he can't reach? Also I think they have already invented this for finding your keys.
they had a product that was out in the market a few years ago. it was a device that you could stick on anything and was activated by whistling. once ativated the beeping sound stayed on for a few seconds. i think it was originally made for keys but i guess strapping it on the remote would be just fine. the down side of this would probably be that your son might actually find the remote even more interseting
umm... i just now (actually yesterday) had this idea, and i was going to make it... i was thinking about going on that American Inventor show and trying to get it marketed... i got online to try and find something about this to see if it's been done...
I think it should be like a page button on a cordless telephone. Push a button on the TV and the remote beeps. I would also like a button that could be installed at my "key spot" to locate my keys.
http://www.keyringer.com/seems like a better product than the whistle.
the best way to solve this wud be to add a clapper circuit in the remote itself and when u calp it beeps so you know where it is by sound sigals
I would appreciate this invention very much and I guess all parents of small children do.Maybe the remote finder button could be integrated in the base station of a wireless phone.
One of my friends suggested that RFID ing will be a thing.
Here's a few places you can find them:
