With the new and low cost family plans being offered by most cell providers as well as free mobile to mobile service, why not develop cell phones that could connect computers using cell phones and USB cables.

For example, I could leave one cell phone at home connected to my computer (via usb) I can then call that phone from the cell phone I cary with me and access the data on my home computer or use the home computers internet connection to access the web. I could also connect a second computer to my phone and have a virtual wireless network connection.

You already can do this and it has been done. It is not promoted by cell phone companies because it costs them money when you are using their network. A lot of money if you are using their network for data.

If you use Verizon for data transfers, it detects it immediately and adds a $40 / month charge automatically to your monthly bill as internet service. You could send text messages to control internet file sharing. See iForgot
