Let the governments of the eastern New Mexico high plains set aside their differences and DO the Ute Water Project (running a pipeline from Ute Lake, spur to Tucumcari, Logan, Grady, Clovis, Cannon, Texico, Portales terminating at Elida). Quit the quibbling that has gone on for 15/20 years. It is INCREDIBLY ridiculous to use groundwater for public water and crops...it is an unrenewable resource. Want to see what happens when you dry up the groundwater? Look at the dead orchards between Roswell and Artesia, look at the town of Willcox, Arizona.-Sandman

Why should the taxpayers pay for a water line so that a private water company can sell us water we have already paid for? Who will decide how much the water company should charge us for our water? will the water company be responsible for upkeep on the pipeline or when do they become responsible for the water?
Can the other cities on the system get more water if they need it? and if so, Are the people of Clovis going to pay for their upgrades since we are going to pay for their original entry into the system. It has been said we will pay for the cities that say they can't afford to pay their share.
The city of Clovis wants to pass an ordinance to make us conseve water that they don't own or sell. Can they also make other towns do likewise? Will the towns that have their own water systems pay enough to eventually pay their fair share?
