Why not integrate a torrent system into podcast feeds, so that when you automatically download podcasts you can provide some bandwidth for those 'casts? It would certainly cut down on bandwidth costs for podcasters, and probably speed up downloads, too. Granted, file parameters would have to change; perhaps this would be a different version of RSS. The podcaster would provide a seed and tracker, and if integration was smooth enough the user wouldn't even have to pay attention: Juice or Ipodder or whatever would handle it in an integrated fashion. Podcasts seem to be downloaded a lot when they're new and then less as they age. This would provide some help over that initial bump.

Some podcasts are available as torrents.
