What if the BTK Killer from Wichita or any criminal for that matter where DNA is involved dies in a car wreck before the case is solved? Another unsolved case. A Law should be enacted immediately that mandates the DNA testing of all people upon death. This insures that even though the person cannot be punished, the familys minds can be more likely to find closure. Can I have an Amen?

So you are saying the same DNA test that couldn't convict OJ should be used to implicate someone in an unsolved crime at the time of thier death? ?

A shotgun approach such as this seems like a lot of unneeded testing and wasted resources to come up with results that aren't ironclad. There would still be that lingering doubt. I'm all for trying to catch 'em alive. At least they might have an interest in clearing themselves while they are alive.

In OJ's case the DNA evidence was suggested to have been planted by supposedly racist police detectives in the LAPD and the jury believed the defense, the DNA evidence was ignored and the case was closed. (In no way am I defending OJ here - important clarification.) Radical case for an example, but understandable, and you must consider that the OJ case came on the heels of the Rodney King beating trials (plural) and the LA Riots that ensued as a direct result of the first trial. A change of venue to another state was needed for OJ's trial - a fair trial was impossible in LA but no one saw that. OJ's case was the exception and not the rule.

I looked at the timeline of the OJ Simpson case and that of the Green River Killer, and utilized the following pages:

Why wait until death? DNA should be recorded at birth and recorded with the birth certificate. Plus fingerprints once the child is old enough for them to develop. Think of all the crimes that could be solved.

DNA should also be mandatory for anyone who wants to enter the USA - a logical extension of the current "treat them as guilty-until-proved-innocent terrorists and criminals" policy which currently photographs and fingerprints everbody entering the USA.

You could also fit every baby with an RFID chip - as is currently done to identify pets - and record there location every few minutes. The police can easily identify who was at the scene of a crime. No more false alibis and no more innocent people accused who were nowhere near the scene of the crime but cannot prove it.

The innocent cannot possibly complain about this, they have nothing to hide.

Think I'm ranting? Look up ANPR on the Internet:
Cambridgeshire police
Official police plans for rolling out the technology.
