Physical switch for silencing | |||||||||||||||||
All cell phones should have a physical switch for switching to vibration mode. Currently, nearly all cell phones have keyboard shortcuts for this (press and hold the # key, for example), but they are difficult to discover. This is one feature that needs to be very easy to discover and activate.

To clarify, I mean a physical, dedicated switch. One that is clearly labeled and ONLY used for this one function. Like the one on every pager. If you don't know what a "pager" is, ask someone over 30. :-)
I think the Treo already has this.I know the Treo 700W has it.
I hope Treo starts a trend that spreads throughout the cell phone industry. As far as I know, Treo's are the ONLY cell phones that have this, and that's a shame.
Mine makes you go through all the levels of volume before coming upon vibrate or silent, which utterly defeats the purpose, and I susually have to open it up and manually set it to vibrate.
if you have smart / pda phone then you can use freeware PocketZenPhone version 4.5 to do the same. it also switches the provile at predefined time.
