The rite of passage most of us have grown up on has come to an end due to drivers not intelligent enough to confine their activity to a completely desolate area, hence a rapid increase in deaths associated with street racing, primarily innocent families caught by kids racing, fueled by numerous recent movies about racing. It has to stop now. New law, you race or run and you lose your car. 90 days the first time and suspension of license, permantenly lose vehicle next time and one year on license. Like I said, it has to stop. I am posting just one more article in our local paper that happened in the past few days as a first comment. The racer died in this one, but the innocent person was seriously injured and the rest of their life could be impacted by a simple race. It could be your Mom or Dad or brother or sister next time. If you hear of a death or crash of this nature, copy and paste it as a comment and lets see how many wrecks are occuring like this nation or worldwide. And be sure to register your Agreement or Disagreement to this idea. I would like to see it in place within a year. As it is now, if you kill someone during a street race you face "criminally negligent homicide" and time in prison. Just this week a Dallas Cowboy who ran over 2 kids at high speed was sent to prison for 7 years. STREET RACING DEATHS Please copy and paste any news articles regarding serious injury or death from racing in your community. Lets see how bad this is nationwide. The article starting this is from Dallas area, Irving, Texas, 2006: IRVING, January 10, 2006 -- Irving police say street racing killed one man and left another injured. The deadly crash happened Monday morning on Belt Line Road in Irving between Valley View Lane and Highway 161. Police say the driver of a red Honda was racing another car, and that's when he lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic, and slammed into a minivan. The crash killed the honda's driver. The driver of the minivan is in serious condition, but expected to recover. Police say they tracked down the other street racing suspect, who could face a charge of criminally negligent homicide.

According to testimony at his original trial, Goodrich was speeding on Interstate 35E near Walnut Hill Lane about 2 a.m. after an evening at a Dallas topless club. Witnesses said he did not apply his brakes until it was too late as his BMW 745i came upon the vehicle ablaze on the freeway. Witnesses said Goodrich veered onto the freeway shoulder to avoid the wreckage, striking the three men working to free the motorist. Wood and Matthews died from their injuries. Goodrich testified at his trial that he did not stop because he was scared. He said he returned to the scene, but a friend who was riding with him advised him not to stop. Relatives of Wood and Matthews praised the judge's ruling Monday. "I'm thankful that she gave him the maximum she could on this," said Laura Wood, Joseph Wood's mother, after the hearing. "I'm not ready to forgive. ... No matter what your status is, you better think before you do the wrong thing."

Woman charged in freeway crash that kills Tongan prince, princess

San Mateo County prosecutors have charged Edith Delgado, a Redwood City woman, with three counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence in connection with a July 5 accident on U.S. 101 in Menlo Park that killed three people, including a visiting prince and princess from the nation of Tonga.
Ms. Delgado, 18, pleaded not guilty to the charges at an arraignment hearing July 7 before Judge Thomas Smith of the San Mateo County Superior Court, who set bail at $3 million, said Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.
Ms. Delgado is alleged to have caused the accident after her Ford Mustang struck a 1998 Ford Explorer that then rolled over several times. The victims were a Tongan royal couple — Prince Tu'ipelehake, 54, and Princess Kaimana Tu'ipelehake, 45 — and the driver, East Palo Alto resident Vinisia Hefa.

Forgot to mention that there are places where amateur racers can test their skills in a completely legal fashion. The races are held at stadiums or arenas, and are staffed with emergency crews in case anything goes wrong. There are most likely entrance fees as well.
