Automatic return kiosk | |||||||||||||||||
Just as supermarkets have self check-out lines, why not have self-return kiosks. Why does returning a tie, shirt, PDA, etc. require human intervention. If I have a valid purchase receipt and there is a way to acknowledge actual return of the product, then we can automate this entire transaction. The steps involved would be, 1. Scan the return receipt, the system will check its validity and if all is okay, print out a return label. 2. Take the return label, put it on the item and then place it on some kind or conveyor/scanning module. 3. This module would actually acknowledge the physical receipt of the item. 4. Once this is done, the refund will be given in either cash or credit. Retail outlets will save customers time and gain their loyalty for providing smart, intelligent service.

They need a person in returns to make sure you aren't pulling a fast one.
