for whatever reason that this was posted, it just should not have been said. a cheap way of getting attention. there are so many people that are affected with cancer and it should not be treated as a joke.

When I first read this comment I thought what the hell are you guys ranting about?? Kill all cancer patients?? I am a cancer patient........not once, not twice but three times in my life I have been told those horrible words "you have cancer & it may kill you". I have three separate cancers: advanced breast cancer, colon cancer & now pancreatic cancer which I am told is very deadly & could take my life a lot sooner then I would like. But I have no plans on giving up..........life is just too precious for that:)

I am a woman with family & friends who care for me very deeply...........they would be horrified to come accross something like this!! I'm not though.........I have fought a very brave battle since 2002 to stay alive & I am still here enjoying everything life has to offer me. I love my life!! I am not afraid of the struggle a head of me..........I know the cancer I have now will eventualy take my life. I know one thing though...........I do not want someone deciding that I don't deserve to live because I have become a burden on the system.

Let me tell you young man or lady that the majority of people out there struggling to raise funds for research into cancer are cancer patients themselves plus all their family & friends who care for them so deeply. Why do we do it..................so some day maybe you won't have to face the same struggle that we do as cancer patients. Believe me when I tell you this that cancer not only affects the person going through it but it touches everyone around them............family & friends!! So some day when you are facing a battle with a disease such as cancer or something else just remember that maybe the cure you received for it was fought hard by those who went before you.......those brave cancer patients, families & friends who were not afraid to fight for a cure.

Although I doubt the original poster to this thread had any but the most shallow thoughts on the subject, the concept that anything that does not contribute to the bottom line should be discarded is rampant in US culture and it devalues a large percentage of the tresures of being alive and aware and taking pleasure in the delights so conferred. Its base motivation is monetary greed and It is both dangerous and stupid.

My sister might be coming down with cancer and if she does, I'd like to see you try and explain your intentions to me. It will not be happy. For you.

We all know someone with some form of cancer, even if we don't realize it. Time is important to human beings, and supporting cancer research is one of the few things we do right with our money. Some of these cancers can be cured, while others may not be as effective and allow the person to live many long years of life.

I'm a therapist who works with (amongst others) cancer patients - and there is something that you should all know - we all have many types of cancer cells inside us - lying dormant. They become activated by circumstances that affect us mentally (like trauma and retained anger) and circumstances that are external (smoking and other chemical intakes).So the insensitive attitude of 'banana ranger' WILL have an effect on him/her. I sincerely hope it doesn't, but it is certainly more likely.Live a full and happy life by being positive, helpful and caring - it really works..

Too bad you don't know what the hell you are talking about. A diagnosis of cancer does NOT mean death for the majority of patients. MOST cancer patients are CURED. Sure, some cancers are more deadly than others, some cancers are caught too late. But MOST people who have cancer will LIVE to tell about it.

I know a lot of good people who suffer from cancers, and my own father is a bone marrow donor register. He helps people that have leukemia, a cancer of the blood, by helping them find donors to donate bone marrow for them. I've seen a lot of pricks that say, "Oh, I'm not going to help THAT guy because he's Portugese" or "I want to help this one, not the other one". And I've seen succumb to the cancer. Fathers, sons, mothers, daughters, babies, friends... And when I read your article, that all washes away. You think death is a joke, you moron? If you ever get cancer, would you want to hear the doctors tell you, "Uh-oh, you have cancer. Looks like we're gonna have to put you to sleep. Lo-ser." I hope one day, when you are suffering from a cancer and you're fighting against it, with your loved ones, the doctor comes in and shows you your stupid, immature article, and do what you had suggested. You make me sick.
