Depth Changing Cup Holders | |||||||||||||||||
People are always complaining about having tall drinks falling out of their cup holders. Why not create a cup holder where the depth can vary depending on the weight of the drink. It would keep the center of gravity below the rim of the cup holder and keep the drink in even on those tight turns. I have been searching the web and I haven't seen anything of the sort but if anyone has heard or seen one, if they could e-mail me about it, taht would be great.

Cupholders do the best they can, and the cheapy 'super' ones that are sold at Wal-Mart (and have a burger tray :P) have a width-adjusting feature, but my travel mug, which does fit in it, is indeed rather tall. Perhaps instead of width we should try looking to depth? If properly implemented it would be an effective storage unit, though there's need to be more room under the console.
