I do not know if this already exists in other countries, but I have never seen one. But how about a push button burner wherein one could turn on the burner and adjust the amount of heat just by pressing a button. It could even be a remote controlled burner wherein the person could adjust the heat of the burner with a remote control from across the room.If a person could be doing something important or watching something interesting on the t.v. then that person could just use the remote to adjust the heat.

I assume you are speaking about a stove for cooking. Anybody who attempts to cook while main attention is on TV is courting disaster, or at minimum, a badly done meal. I would recommend radio as a minor diversion.

I also assume you're talking about a cooking stove. As far as remotely turning down the heat (for when a pot of water boils over, or if a fire breaks out), this is a great idea. I don't like the idea of remotely lighting the burner, though. Sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

I have to echo the concerns regarding a remote on/off button for the burner. Every once in a while my television or lamp is on when I get home. I used to think maybe my son wasn't turning them off when he left. I kept happening after he moved out. Now I know they get turned on sometimes when the cat plays with the remotes. (I don't know why the cat feels compelled to move the remotes from the table to the floor when he thinks he is alone, but that's what he does.) A burner remote that could get "bumped" on would not be a good thing.
