EZ refrigerator dating | |||||||||||||||||
Easy dating for leftovers asks how to keep track of the age of leftovers. How about 7 colors of rubber bands on hooks on the fridge door? Sunday=Red, Monday=Orange, Tuesday=Yellow, etc. Slap the appropriate band on the leftover. If it's today's color, and you don't remember putting it in there, throw it out -- it's a week old. Cheap, and not too tough to implement -- unless you're color blind.

Should work. The way I understand it, the color of bread ties indicate the day of the week it was made.
I use a Sharpie marker to write the contents and date on zip bags of food I put in the fridge. Marking the contents is probably more important that the date, because week-old chicken broth looks surprisingly similar to peach juice. I know this because- um- my neighbor told me, that's it...
