AS for it being a full fleged DVR, that won't work so well when you have the unit with you.

I propose a fixed unit that records the programs for you, which you transfer the recordings to a portable unit. Some fixed DVRs, can kind of do that with a PC as an intermediary.

Slingplayer is a device that attaches to your current TiVo box and can send the video to various portable devices, such as a laptop computer, handheld device, or even some video enabled phones.

The Archos 404, 504 and 604 and a few other Archos devices can all act as a TIVO. Unforunately you have to buy the dock separate, but given it's size, everything about this is portable. They have an Archose with a 7" screen, but the 604 and 504 have a 4.3" screen and can play high def video. You could get an 80GB Archos 504 with a dock from Sharper Image. You can record shows, play mp3's, display photos, and the 4.3" screen can display 16 million colors. No Ipod can do that.

In fact, the 604 WiFi, which only has a 30 GB version, has wifi capability and can link up to any wifi network. It has an Opera browser for surfing the net and the screen is touch screen. It does everything that the 404 and 504 do as well. So there's your portable TIVO
