People with asperger's syndrome have certain personal characteristics which are considered abnormal and deficient in general social skills but are compensated by perceptive capabilities in system analysis. Although the lacks are classified to indicate subnormality, it has been theorized that some of the most extraordinary individuals in history, Michaelangelo, Lewis Carroll, Thomas Jefferson, Einstein, for example, were asperger individuals. In general, engineers and scientists have a high percentage of asperger individuals and since society finds these individuals valuable in current and probably future society and since asperger syndrome is genetically connected, it might be that the next evolutionary step in human development is towards asperger individuals.

Interesting... I read about the "negative" qualities of Asperger's syndrome, and the worst one seems to be bad handwriting. The syndrome does lend itself to survival, as less social interaction means fewer transfers of infectious disease.

If you "cure" Asperger's today, the IT industry will be dead in a week.

Asperger syndrome can also be an indication of creativity. Many of our modern artists could be said to share the symptoms with engineers and scientists. It boils down to thinking outside the box, a willingness to be different than the generally accepted opinions of others. As an artist I enjoy that state of affairs but I don't think I qualify for Asperger syndrome
