It would be really convenient to have "Quick Charge" kiosks for mobile phones. For example, say you're in an airport on a business trip and need to make an important call, but you have no cash for a pay-phone and your mobile has a dead battery. You could walk up to a charging station that has a card reader, swipe your credit card, use an on-screen menu to select your phone type, and it would tell you the correct plug to use and automatically set that to the correct voltage. You could pay for however long you wanted to charge it and get just enough juice to make the call, or if you had the time you could wait around for a longer charge. This could also be helpful in convenience stores or shopping malls.
The only real problems would be that each kiosk would have to have a vast array of different plugs for every phone type and they wouldn't be very profitable to any company; seeing how having a dead mobile battery isn't that often of an occurence. But hey, I can think of two or three times I would have paid anything for just a quick boost to a dead phone.

I've already seen a secure kiosk like this in France and in UK.You can choose your mobile with a touchscreen and 4 automatic lifts allows you to charge your battery. The name of the kiosk is "ubicharge". You can find more informations at http://www.full-battery.com
