Have you ever been unhappy that you have to soak, rinse, and scrub dishes, then put them into a diswasher right after a great dinner? Well the sink dishwasher will cut your work into a matter of just putting dirty dishes in the household sink. This would work as a dishwasher but instead of you doing the work it would do it for you. The way it would work is you would put a covering over the sink and put some dishsoap directly into the sink. Then you would chose a setting on it and all the grease is gone and the dishes are clean as new. You wouldnt have to scrub off the grease before. This also cuts your appliences in half.

I'm not sure what the arrangement might be, but a good deal of my cooking requires a sink available for uses other than dishwashing such as cooling hot preparations to be used in baking mixes etc. Mechanical dishwashing usually requires some sort of rack for the dishes and a spray mechanism whch would interfere with other sink uses.
Great Idea...so great KitchenAid sells one. I saw it at the Builders Home Show 1.5 years ago. http://www.kitchenaid.com/catalog/category.jsp?categoryId=967
Their pitch: Ideal for entertaining, this 42 in. stainless steel briva® in-sink dishwasher offers you the flexibility of washing small loads as you need them. It quietly completes small loads in about half the time of a standard dishwasher and can also be used as a sink or food preparation area.
rdy4trvl I didnt realize that they sell one. Its just one night when i was doing dishes i got really bored and thought i could spend my time better. Thats when i came up with this. But apparently they came up with it first.
The problem is that jets of water + soap are very bad at getting some kinds of stuff off dishes. Just because you combine a sink and a dishwasher doesn't mean you don't have to prescrub the dishes. Industrial dishwashers are similar to what you describe, except with a higher throughput capacity and a couple extra features.
You'll have to come up with a scrubbing machine if you want to get away from pre-dishwasher labor.
A simple way of scrubbing dishes which doea not seem to be used is an ultrasound wand that can be dipped into a sinkful of submerged dishes. The ultrasound generates microbubbles which scrub submerges surfaces. This may be dangerous to submerged hands so some sort of safety system might be necessary as with microwave cookery.
