Mail Bell | |||||||||||||||||
I never know if has been delievered or not. Im always checking to see if it is there and sometimes I will check way to early. Also Sometimes Im really anxious to get the mail because there is something Ive been waiting for. I think it would be a good idea to somehow wire the mail box so it looks normal but when mail is deposited a bell will ring on my house that I can hear from the inside. Sorta like a phone ringing but it would have a different sound.

Around here, you or the mail person turns the box or lifts a flag to signify the presence of mail. I have heard of electronic gadgets to do that, and it wouldn't be impossible to build one, for the skilled hobbyist.
Your mail delivery person will probably think it is a bomb.
Wireless Mail Alert
A simple solution that I implemented was to take a lightweight piece of metal (such as an old slat from a venetian blind) about a foot long and an inch wide, drive one nail through it onto a pillar on my porch above the flap in my mailbox, and nail a small magnet to the pillar just above the upper end of the "flag" I constructed. That holds it in the slanted-up position. When the mailman lifts the flap, the lower end lifts, the upper end falls, the magnetic connection is broken and the flag rotates about 90 degrees. This informs anyone who looks through the front window if mail has arrived.
