I see too many police cars breaking everyday laws, including speeding, improper turning, tail gating, etc. I have heard the excuse that it is in the line of duty. If so you have to do what you have to do but too many police are breaking the laws for no reason. Let's set the example. No one is above the law.

How about putting a "How am I driving?" sign on the back of the patrol car, just like they do for trucks.

Or, going one step further, put a black box in the patrol car that records speed, g-forces, and the like. It turns out that this greatly reduces accidents when used with ambulances (in the US); it has also been used with success with police cars in Germany.

Yes, sometimes Police Officers sneak through a Stop Sign (Hollywood Style). But in the business I'm in I see so many of our Clovis drivers pull so many stunts.Blocking intersection @ Commerce and Prince, thereby not leaving room for the other traffic (including Police or Ambulance in an emergency).Pulling up within a foot of my rear bumper.Of course following to close. Most of the Allsups stores are being used as a Red Light Avoidance system (ahh why wait for the Red Light, go through Allsups, or Town & Country).Or how about the still high problem of Drinking and Driving? There's a no brainer!

Additional Comment:There are reasonably priced products that are GPS enabled for about $350.00 each to give updated information that can be downloaded to a computer and analysed. More pricey versions are not usable with our local cellular providers (88101). I looked at a low end system for our firm, but the cost is still an expense I can't afford at this time.

Interesting that what started here as a subject which sounded more like a grumble than an idea lead the discussion to some great ideas - all of which should be adopted. I am sure most police in cars with blue lights on are only going to buy a packet of fags.

how about a website/blog where people can post pictures of police vehicles (and police) doing discourteous and stupid things?

The increasing number of cell phone and ordinary digital cameras around these days should make it easy to get contributions..

ALL govt cars should have GPS and speed monitors. we recently had them put onto some govt dept cars and there was no more rorting.
