I don't know how the 'divorce' thing enters into the plot (was that from Twister? I never saw it) but I do know that I'm one of the 'stupid' people that has tried to document lightning.

It's pretty much impossible to 'chase' lightning because you really can only guess where the next one will be. As for chasing tornadoes, once you've spotted one, they're movement is pretty predictable--they even broadcast the predicted paths on TV. Additionally, a trained spotter with a good radar picture can predict where they'll occur--they're usually on the trailing edge of a storm, where a 'hook' echo is present.

I have a few really nice photos of lightning and much greater number of bad ones. I've only seen one tornado in 42 years of Kansas residency.

The world is made up of many different people and I like it that way. When Thomas Edison was young the town he lived in (Port Huron) thought he was stupid. He was the original lightning chaser as that was what electricity was thought to be. My point is that people are naturally funny, if they don't take themselves too seriously. And I don't. By the way according to shuufabet that would be siikloon.

A better plot hook would be if they were to start chasing orbs or ghosts or Bigfoots, after a sighting. Lightning isn't really chase-able.

Lightning may not be chaseable but it can be beckoned. Just wear a metal skullcap with a long metal antenna and stand out in a thunderstorm. The results can be electrifying.
