I want a glove made out of sand paper, not a glove that sand paper adheres to. I want the entire surface area of the glove to have the ability to "sand". If I need to address a tight area I can use my pinky, for greater swaths I could use the whole hand approach- even two hands for that matter. You could even be "artistic" with this tool- sanding your sculpture much like a sculpter uses a chisel. Of course it might take awhile. As I think about it, I bet a blind person could really make some interesting pieces. I have seen gloves that you can put sand paper on but not a glove made out of an abrasive medium.

There are abrasive cloths like emery cloth but I have never seen a glove made abrasive. It probably would be useful in some specific situations but a shaped abrasive surface is frequently more useful held flat or shaped in a geometric curve or wrapped around a round rod. If it is shaped as a glove for sculptural purposes it would be useful to be waterproof so it could be unclogged by washing and scrubbing with a brush.

Great idea this would make snding easier

briansalvesen, Sep 06 2006

Good idea, but it is already patented.

A patent's just a patent until someone decides to put it into production. Imagine telling someone you have a "diamond" glove. But seriously, I think the guy skipped over abrasive wools, like those used for finishing. Also, 3M seems to have made some new abrasive products which could possibly be turned into handwear.

this would not work the sand paper would rub your skin raw if you made a sand paper glove trust me on this

energydude, Dec 01 2006

im doing that for a class project too bad it is patented

Rachel _102, Feb 11 2007

Energydude, the sand goes on the *outside* of the glove. Your hand goes on the *inside* of the glove.

Dwane Anderson, Feb 11 2007

Terribly poor idea, sand paper rubs raw very quickly. What do you do with an entire glove that has no sandpaper on the fingertips? It's useless. Better to have fingertips with artificial "fingernails" that are all replaceable seperately.
