My idea for an electromagnetic automobile of sorts would consist of assemblies on the hubs of wheels. These assemblies would involve a non-metal disc about the size of a brake disc that would have magnetic plates spaced around the circumfrence that would be repelled along by an electromagnet that would resemble a brake caliper. As these plates passed by the e.m., a charge would flow through the e.m. repelling the plates along. A sensor resembling a camshaft sensor would be placed along the disc that would tell the cpu when to power the e.m.. This could also be used to slow and stop the car as well. You could control power flow via a throttle resembling a boat throttle. If enough power could be derived from only two of these magnets, you could then attach lubricated alternators to the front two wheels of the vehicle that would charge your batteries as power is consumed through other needs of the vehicle.

What you are describing is a car with electric motors mounted on each wheel. Not a new idea.
Regenerative brakes are in production already. When you have those, one motor is all you need.
it's amazing how many people don't know that an electric motor is just magnets attracting and repelling in a circle.
There has been a 4 motor vehical invented. One motor for each wheel, but it is too expensive and impractical at this time. Also, you can never have a one to one ratio of energy expended and energy regenerated. That is called perpetual motion. However, electric cars are using their brakes to regenerate some power that is lost during driving when they are braking.
They're called "hubmotors."
They aren't used much in motor vehicles because they add a lot of unsprung weight, which is a bad thing.
Better to have the electric motor securely mounted to the chassis, driving the wheel through a conventional drivetrain.
I think I understand what you are describing. Some sort of way to propel the two front or rear wheels electromagnatically while at the same time recharging the battery and running the electronics using whichever wheels are remaining to do so. I have been tinking of this sort of an idea all weekend long and wish I knew enough about it to test it. And you are right, you would not need brakes for the same principle behind moving the wheels would apply to stopping it. Just in the opposite direction. And you wouldn't need a constant flow of electricity, just a small amount at intervals. Nor would you need a gas engine.
I've been thinking of this kind of propulsion for a while now. i know how you are saying to make it work. and i know that it will work because the military is working on this very idea to phase out the Humvee's the way i saw it work was a 3 cyl diesel motor hooked up to a generator for the power. I'm trying to figure out how to make it at a price that is realistic for a modern day car
i was just sitting at work thiknin of this exact idea.. but wat if instead of on the "caliper" area you used a series of gears that are different sizes to propell the car faster, these would be the motors, but not like any other electric motor today, it would only need small jolts of electrcity to flip the magnet to + or - , it would work in a similar fashion to a mag lev or magnetic levitation train used in china, they would be extremely effective and low cost.
