I run summer technology camps for kids ages 8-17. I am thinking about growing my firm by moving to a mostly Sponsor supported model. It would work like this:

Make all of the courseware copyleft. This way other camps could download our courses and use them in their camps for free. They could charge for their camps, and keep all of the money. I don't want a dime.

They will have to significantly display our sponsors on the printed courseware, their website, and t-shirts.

I make money from sponsors offering them worldwide recognition of their support for kids and technology education. Sponsors get the added benefit of knowing their funds went to scholarships for kids in need and can get writeoffs through our non-profit partners.

I guess I have two questions. If you ran camps, would you use our materials? If you were a Fortune 1000 company, would you pay $10,000 per year in sponsorships?

I guess the answer to your questions lies in the number of students that would be exposed to your materials and what advertising you would do with your own funds to get the word out.
