Sometimes while watching a sporting event such as football I would like to see a different camera angle than the one the station is sending. Why not use a different bandwidth or channel to send various camera angles to give you the ability to see different portions of the field or different angles of the play?

Adding in some sort of way to do your own instant replay from any of the camera angles would be great as well.

The multi-angle viewing can probably be enabled with HDTV programming, and digital cable service providers are already shipping (or in some cases preparing to ship) cable boxes with integrated PVR functionality, much like Tivo. These two technologies together can enable what you need.

I don't know if what you need has any application beyond sporting events, though, and I don't know if any TV channel operators (beyond ESPN, etc.) would want to invest in multiple separate channel frequencies just to bring the viewer multi-angle viewing. I'm not sure if it makes economic sense even for sports channels. But technically, the infrastructure and technology is already there.

HDTV has nothing with it, just the Digital TV infrastructure.

NASCAR is doing it, in a fashion, with their in-car cameras, which is available on digital cable or satellite in some areas.

Other uses would be multi-angle movies, as they have multi-angle DVDs.
