I will go ahead and say this is a good idea. But I doubt you will find any sock manufacture to agree with us. They will always hope that you lose one and buy two more.

What might be more useful is to institute a fashion of wearing non-matching socks. That way two lost socks from non-matching pairs would become wearable.

Buy a multi-pack containing a number of identical pairs. When you've lost or worn out two, you no longer have any odd socks, just one less pair.

Also means after you wash them, you don't need to expend effort matching the pairs, any sock will go with any other.

The cost manufacturer cost is in the packaging and shipping, not the sock itself. Plus the styles and materials change, not to mention a new white sock is whiter than a used white sock. This just doesn't make sense to me.
