I think the new Google reader beta should have a "CUT OFF DATE" whereby items that are older than a particular date are not loaded. I tried to load Dilbert RSS feed and it keeps loading older and older entries with Next 20 items... Lets just say dont load or fetch any items older than September 1 , 2006. I couldnt find a setting to do this.

This should be posted on Google's forum, so they can make use of your suggestion. We here just talk shop and throw ideas around, apparently.
