Why can't they make a device that allows you to watch a video tapeon your computer? I'm thinking of a tape player with a USB connector. I enjoy watching DVDs just by inserting a disk into my iMac, but why can't there be a way to do the same thing usingvideo tapes?

There is no market for it, or at least to develop one.

You can use a capture device/tuner to connect a regular VCR to your computer to watch or record though.
