I believe it is time to dedicate a channel for and about SPORTS FANS! Today we are brainwashed and have opinions shoved down our throats as if they are fact. Many sports radio programs don't allow you on unless you agree with the host or provide you with very limited time to talk. ESPN basically is no longer for the true sports fan. Instead of it being about sports it is about the personalities on their network. They also like to slant the news or create stories just to create controversy. Who out there can you really say has THE SPORTS FANS best interests in mind.

The only way for a sports fan to be heard today is to have its own network where we can be heard without censorship. Just true dedicated sports fans being heard on the sport/team/player they are passionate about. There can be a "FAN REPORTERS" show instead of Sports Reporters. There can be coverage of intramural sports - "SOFTBALL GUY" on TV? There can be Fantasy sports shows. There can be documentary shows showing what a fan goes through rooting for their teams or show how you are really treated at a sporting event. Maybe we can get an athlete to actually talk to a sports fan and give candid answers. I believe this channel can have powerful implications and send a strong message to any league/team/player who we feel are not up to our expectations. I believe the time has come for a channel dedicated to you THE SPORTS FAN about you THE SPORTS FAN.

ARE YOU WITH ME?!

It won't work. First of all, professional sports don't exist to make fans happy. They are businesses whos only objective is to make money. They don't want a bunch of pretentious fans raining on their parades. Second, who really wants to listen to a bunch of armchair quarterbacks whining about what the pros are doing? I can hear all I want of that at my local sports bar. Third, SOMEBODY has to do the show. Whoever does it is going to immediately cease to represent the ordinary fan as he will become an instant celebrity. If you were running the show, would you want to air the opinions of ordinary fans that disagree with your opinions? You might claim that you would, but that's alot easier to say right now while you ego isn't being threatened. If some fan comes on the air to tell you that he thinks you're a pompous idiot, it's going to be hard for you to let him go on about it.

Sure it would be nice, but unfortunately it just won't work.
