i have a pre-paid mobile phone and i frequently keep changing numbers to different service-providers ..and every time i change my number i have to tell my new number to all my contacts ..

instead if the service providers themselves provide a way for user s to specify old numbers and getting their new number .so that by specifying the old number the persons new number can be obtained ..

Some places, such as the USA, have that option, and it is amongst wired and VOIP providers too. I think Canada is getting that ammongst cell providers next year.

The problem is that you are using pre-paid. When you buy a new SIM card, the number is pre-programmed into it.
If you have a normal billed phone, you can keep your old number when you go to a new service provider.
