Amongst me here, stands, a community of scientist, inventors and minds. We are all voicing our ideas and creations for criticism, construction and active development, for this process of real time debate.

So I ask...

...Should we not unite, entering unto agreement as witness to stand for one another in the protection of ideas?

I am far from an expert on law, however, I presume, a global online community in excess of 1000 people can carry a lot of weight (please excuse the expression). Infact, in excess of that required to verify an original creation.(I ask how this stands in a lawfull manner and if anyone can give further insight. As I am sure it differs worldwide.)

This is a wiki website, now, if 100 members where to fully download the website, when some secure method was implemented and adhered to, circumnavigating corruption of data, then surely that would act as an irrefutable back-up to original ideas.

As I understand it, this idea would probably increase the bandwidth usage for the site, but I think I speak for us all when I say that a small advert for an external company to help finance any costs incurred would not be problematic.

Furthermore I believe that the essence of this site is freedom. Ideas published should be under ownership of the original inventor, yet, able to be used by the entire public domain, with exception however, for mass production or profit without prior consent.

One reason I inflict this idea, is not to replace a perfectly functioning patenting system (all be it convoluted, expensive and occasionally unjust). Instead it is to allow those whom have a revolutionary idea, to be safe in the knowledge that it is known and protected by this intellectual online community found here, without exception of you, the reader.

This, hopefully, may mean that an earth changing idea will not be wiped from existence by oil baron, government or similar as i'm sure everyone has observed at some point through history.

Instead your idea enters the public domain and is protected by the public, worldwide.

(Many, will befall the unfortunate task of enduring crazed, useless, yet sometimes usefull spoutings from me. For which I apologise in advance. Some of my ideas though, may disagree with different animals, I am reffering to oil companies and alike. These ideas MUST stay in public domain and mind as I do not want them to blip out of existence... anyway rant over and out!)

Perhaps I am unique in this group but when I get an idea I think may be feasible and useful I don't give a fart at the moon if I get compensation. If someebody wants to undertake the multiple headaches involved at developing and producing it then more power to him or her. If ten people decide to develop the idea then perhaps there will be some competition to perfect it. If the idea proves useful for the populace then that's even better. I am not interested in production or sales.

I concur, although any revolutionary idea still needs the protection (and criticism) of minds. So that it can always be used to benefit.

Also, there are people after power and money. Offering an additional form of protection for those people allows anyone to air their idea for debate before patenting, this ensures creases are ironed and such. Im sure it is an attractive proposition for most.

This attraction could, in turn, increase website traffic and offer more protection with higher volumes of people.

I was told years ago that you do not have to worry about anybody stealing your brilliant and original ideas. If your idea is truely brilliant and original, you'll have to ram it down people's throats before they will swallow it. If I post an idea or thought here, I assume that it is public domain and if anyone wants to pick up the ball and run with it, then best of luck to them. If someone makes millions off of one of my suggestions and I get no compensation, that's fine. Maybe they can at least sent me a thank you, but if they don't that's okay. If I have an idea that I want to try to make money with, I won't post it here. I post here to help others figure out if their ideas are worth pursuing or not.

Your ideas are protected. When you post them here, it is considered a public disclosure, and it can be used as evidence in an investigation of inventorship. After your publication here, according to US patent law, you have a 1-year grace period to apply for a patent on the invention. After one year, nobody (including you) can receive a patent on the idea that has been sitting for 1 year. The idea becomes part of un-patentable human knowledge ("prior art"). Again, this assumes that the patent examiner can find this site. Any public web site is considered to be part of human "prior art." What if you don't have the idea and application ready in 1-year? You can get an exception to the 1-year deadline if you were able to prove that you've actively been working on taking your concept to actual feasible plans or a prototype. So really, this web site probably prevents as many patents are it creates. But it's all good because we can always come up with more good ideas to improve humanity's condition.
