Easy Load Baby Crib | |||||||||||||||||
Getting children in and out of baby cribs is tough on backs. Typically when loading the kid, he/she is in your arms and you don't have any free arms to raise or lower the side gate. So you end up lowering them into the crib at an awkward angle putting undue stress on your back. A crib should be designed that has a safe foot lever to raise and lower the side gate so that the baby can easily be inserted into and out of the crib.

Very good idea. Though sounds like it could easily be copied by large manufacturers.
It does sound like a good idea, however, I'd be worried that a foot lever might be easy for the baby to drop something (accidentally or deliberately, depending on how smart the kid is) on or for older siblings to push and that the baby might come tumbling out. You'd want to take extra care to ensure safety of this device that is intended to violate the cage-like structure which a crib is intended to have.
Great idea. I don’t know much about baby cribs, but I can see the challenge of having to lift a baby over the side in order to lay him/her down. The only issue, as you recognize, is that the pedal must have a safety mechanism to prevent accidental opening of the side gate. Don’t want to get sued…
