This is a great suggestion - expanding the cell phone/bank partnership idea. Coordinating and creating incentives for banks and the DMV might be difficult. Adding ATM service would not mean that the DMV could close offices and, from what we know about bureaucracy, there aren't exactly incentives for increasing customer service.

Having the ability to vote would be great. All of the services provided would be good, but voting would be a huge advance and would have the potential to dramatically increase voter turnout.

This is a good idea. Hopefully the lines at ATMs wont become as long as the ones at the DMV!

There are probably some related applications as well. Maybe you could just pay your tickets online or on your cell phone?

Anything to change the DMV system. Even stand alone kiosks that were DMV related only all over town would be a hit. I would write more but I have to go to the DMV right nowe to change my address on my licence and I have class at 1pm. Do you think 4 hrs is enough time?

Dang, another one i can't agree with. At least not all of it anyway. So let me understand, you want this to be hassle free. So, when your ATM card is lost or stolen it will be no hassle for the nice person who found or stole your card to have access to not only you bank account, but also your DMV records. While they're popping out a quick thousand they can also update your DMV info and pop out a drivers licenses with their picture and address on it.

Then to top that, we want to have hassle free elections. That way people who never made the effort to vote before can now drive passed the old "Voting Center" on their way to the local ATM for forty bucks and ah---"Oh, what the hell, I'll vote. eenee-meanee-minee-moe. Why do they make voting so hard? I'll just get my forty bucks and go to Blockbuster before all the good movies are taken." "Hey look, I forgot the old Voting Center is right next to Blockbuster. I hope they replace it with something cool---like a Starbucks or an Applebees. What'd really be awesome is if they moved my ATM next to Blockbuster, then I won't have to drive the extra two blocks."

Yes Virginia, it would be nice not to have to stand in line at the DMV.

Maybe they can move the DMV into Blockbuster?
