Gift cards allow you to purchase anything at a store, restaurant, etc. But what happens if you would never step foot inside that store or restaurant? Aside from giving the card and the value away, you could sell it on a secondary market. An online community could create a forum through which sellers sell a gift card to the website for ¾ of the value of the card and the card is then turned around and sold for a small profit (but still below the value of the card). This assumes that online users would only be willing to buy these “second-hand” cards if they were sold at a discount.
For example, a gift card owner sells $40 GAP gift card to the online community to $30 and the card is turned around and sold for $34 to a new consumer.

Personally, this system would be very helpful as I usually end up with numerous gift cards to stores I don't use. I think a standard discount rate (of say 10% with a cut for the website) would make sense - as opposed to bidding for cards.
Good idea. The only issue I see is to validate that the gift card has not been used already.
Good idea but already there - www.giftcardsagain.comThere is no reason for the discount to be similar across the board - it makes more sense to have the margins match the supply/demand.
