cereal box spouts | |||||||||||||||||
Have you ever become frustrated when serving yourself a bowl of cereal, early in the morning while still half asleep, and finding yourself carelessly spilling cereal all over the countertop or onto the floor (which you then step on to complete the scene)? If so, you would likely agree with the need for cereal boxes equipped with flip-open spouts that channel dry cereal directly into the bowl and reduce the risk of spillage. Instead, most cereal boxes currently have the cereal packaged in a plastic bag which is then ripped open in a manner that varies from user to user.

I would definitely pay a little premium for a spout on my cereal box. Or for a ziplock seal on my potato chip bag ...
As an alternative the bagged cereal could contain multiple small bags with each small bag containing just one premeasured bowlful.
Having just crunched some Special K on my kitchen floor yesterday, I would be thrilled to see spouts on cereal boxes. The plastic bags may be more cost-effective for cereal-makers, but a spout alternative would help with easy pouring and sealed storage, both of which customers would appreciate.
Although I hate the mess of opening bag, I feel there is already an overload of packaging in our food items. Instead of a plastic spout, maybe some way to engineer the bag so it opens and pours in a user-friendly fashion.
