After seeing my wife struggle with tracking personal items left in her numerous handbags, I suggest a concept handbag which combines the need for fashionable handbags serving a variety of different occasions with the utilitarian concept of one handbag to serve all occasions:
The Cargo Purse concept starts with the smallest and simplest "Dance Club Handbag" for the essentials such as ID, Money, Keys, and Cell Phone. A variety of different colored/textured skins can be applied to this bag to change its appearance to match the outfit/occasion.
Additional modular components or accessory bags are then added on to the Dance Club Handbag (such as a large-volume "Shopping Bag" or a "Makeup Bag") containing specific items for each occasion. All accessory bags would also be provided with several different colored/textured skins as with the Dance Club Handbag.
Essentially, this one modular purse concept would eliminate the need for multiple handbags and end the confusion over which handbag the keys or sunglasses, etc. were left in.

This is great idea and would make life more efficient. However, although my purse usage is sometimes based on the function of the event I attend, it often just reflects my mood as well. No matter how many colors or textured skins are designed, I'd probably want something completely different eventually and would still have many purses.
