With so many career switchers in our class, many of us struggle to come to terms with what a career in different fields (or in different companies) breaks down to on a daily basis. Despite the best efforts of seniors who try to explain what they did, there is still some vagueness left over.I suggest a half credit internship assignment. The assignment will require every student to take any random ten days of their internship and write a one page report about what they did from morning to evening that day. At the end of the internship, they should also write a summary about their internship experience. These should then be compiled and provided to first year students for job research. As there may be concerns that the data may be leaked to employers, a hard copy can be provided without permission to copy.

I think this is a good idea. The chief benefit is that it enables others to get an idea of what the work is actually like 'in the moment,' not how the work is remembered after 3 months. Perhaps we could gain a slightly less idealized and more realistic glimpse into various careers.
