Cell Phone (House)key | |||||||||||||||||
Every time I leave the house, I check to make sure I have the BIG THREE: cell phone, wallet, keys. How about making that the BIG TWO? A text message sent to my front door could provide a secure signal for locking and unlocking. An infrared or bluetooth signal could even make it button- or hands- free. And have the unlocking mechanism kick the door ajar like a cash register while you're at it. Cars already have keyless entry and keyless ignition, so you won't be needing that key, either. Give a friend the "valet" code to your house or your car, and you don't even have to be there to let them in. Nobody knows where your lost cell phone lives, so don't worry about that; also your cell can be made to lock after 3 minutes of idle time, so nobody can use your lost "key". What happens if the battery dies? Number pads on house and car provide a workaround. What happens when the electricity dies? a 5-day battery should give the electric company time to get it back on. Think about how happy you'll be with just two things to carry around. Happiness is the BIG TWO. You'll be even happier, though, when cell-phone banking comes to market and you can head out on the town with the BIG ONE. The BIG ONE is Bliss.

I think you are on to something big here. This is a great idea. Using your phone signal as identiification could be like our own personal bar code. Beyond keys, this could be used as a credit card, as airport identification. This could bring us one step closer to an Orwellian world! I love it!
